Tesco closures

Tesco informing staff at 43 stores today that their shops will close.

One is Woodseats in Sheffield, with 50 staff.

In total 2,000 staff are affected.

Express and Home Plus stores will close on 15th March.

Tesco Metros and Superstores will close on 4th April.

Tesco warned earlier this month that 43 stores would be shut as part of plans to cut costs.

  1. Tesco had taken a new store at 495 497garret lane London sw18 which is next to Sainsbury's local doing good business. This is a run down shop which was on the market by the owner several years for high rent and already Tesco got to outlets on the same road

  2. why Tesco had to take a rundown shop next to Sainsbury's local.
    do they want to challenge or loose money.
    Tesco must check the accounts of the previous shop alpine food and wine because owner was running on big lost he could not sell the shop.
    its not too late go and check the accounts and history before Tesco opened the shop

This has created a bit of a stir in Houghton Regis, seeing as a Co-op store closed here last year, leaving us with a Morrisons (and a Nisa in a petrol station and a Poundstretcher that sells some food lines). I hope they've taken the decision based on a proper set of figures. After all, the Co-op hasn't been closed for a year yet, and some footfall from that must have been heading to Tesco Express.
